Overview
Marketplace of the Future is Future Meets Present’s flagship yearly activation. What began as a climate-themed rooftop mixer in 2017 has since grown into one of the most anticipated and well-attended events of Climate Week NYC - the largest Climate Week on Earth.
Objective
MOTF exists to demystify and contextualize climate solutions for the public.
Challenge
Design an experience that's inspiring, educational, approachable, that creates evidence-based hope.
Solution
To do that, we take inspiration from 1939 New York World’s Fair - the first World’s Fair to be future-oriented. The ‘39 World’s Fair was the first time the public saw world-changing inventions - the fluorescent light bulb, color photography, and television - that have become essential to our social fabric. In this same spirit, we look to climate science to determine what must be true in a net-zero future and connect our attendees with the organizations creating those solutions in the present.
